In this episode, we’re going to hear from Wabwila Mugala, a visual artist who specializes in printmaking. We’ll journey through the life experiences that help inform her art, the imaginative space she engages with, and how we can continue to nourish our artistic practices. MEET OUR GUEST:
WABWILA MUGALA


Mugala (she/her/hers) is a Zambian born interdisciplinary
artist currently based in Phoenix, Arizona. She received her
BFA in New Media and Design at UNC Greensboro and MFA
in Printmaking at Arizona State University (2025). Her practice
engages with the call-and-response within the African diaspora
which has led her to design her own visual glossary, patterns
and designs. Recent shows and exhibitions include her solo
exhibition Of Natal Lands (2024) in South Carolina and will be showing
at Tempe Center of the Arts Reclaiming Hope: Afrofuturist Visions.
She has been featured in Southwest Contemporary Magazine: Radical Futures (Volume 10) and AIGA Charlotte.
