CONVERSATION CLUB SYLLABUS

OUR SPRING 2026 JAY'S CONVERSATIONS CLUB
Course Name:
Resisting Fascism for the Gworls 💅🏾
Course Description:
We’re so excited that you’ve decided to join us for our Spring 2026, Resisting Fascism for the Gworls course. This semester, January 2026 - May 2026, we’ll explore all things fascism so we can 1) understand how it works and its purpose, and 2) methods of resistance. To do this, we’ll pull from a variety of sources such as books, TV shows, movies, exhibitions, etc.
The goal is to absorb a piece of literature, experience something in the world related to that piece, and then sit down to discuss afterwards.
At the end of the semester, we’ll have a really cute themed party that brings together everyone in the cohort, any folks we worked with in the community, and even a plus one. 🙂↔️

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Is anyone welcome to join?
Yes and no. Everyone over the age of 18. Ideally, we’re looking for folks who are in their early/late 20s and early/mid 30s. We want to build a community of curious thinkers and people who want to continue to learn and yap about it with folks! However, diversity of thought is more than welcome, but there’s no such thing as diversity of thought when it comes to human rights. You either believe in them or you don’t, and here at Jay’s Conversations, we do so. If you voted for Donald Duck, then this probably isn’t the best space for you.
How do I join?
Fill out this interest form, and we’ll reach out to you. We do want to keep the group on the smaller side to build better bonds/trust with each other, so ideally 15-20 people. But if there’s a lot more interest than that, then we’re open to expanding that number or to having more than one group :)
Is this free to participate in?
There’s no fee to join! But full transparency, most of our activities will have some associated cost, but we will try our best to keep them low and let you know upfront. An example cost would be $28 for the entry into the Phoenix Art Museum. Additionally, we will try our best to find media sources that are free or available at the local library, but if not, there could be an associated cost with getting those items. Feel free to look at the Resources attached below to help with acquiring anything.
What if I can’t make it to every event for the semester?
Well, you are in your flop era then! Just kidding, of course that’s okay. Everyone has a life, and this ain’t the kinda establishment where you need to get your PTO approved in the PTO portal by the Manager of Managerial Logistics of Management beforehand. We just ask that you give us a heads-up in advance.
Do I have to read/watch everything listed?
I will personally kick you out if I find out that you haven’t. Of course, we want to have informed discussions, so reading/watching the materials beforehand is ideal, but it’s okay if you haven’t. Still come and engage with your peers, think about the materials!
